During the 2010 sailing season, I plan to take Saorsa II on an extended cruise following the Down East Circle Route. This trip of approximately 2,400 miles goes down the St. Lawrence River, through the Canadian Maritimes, south along the coast of New England to New York, and then returns to Lake Ontario via the Hudson River and Erie Canal. Departure is planned for early May with return to Lake Ontario by mid-October.

I will need at least one, perhaps two, crew members on the cruise. Preference will be given to individuals with sailing experience, an adventuresome spirit, a sense of curiosity, and an easygoing nature. Non-smokers only will be considered.

Crew will be expected to contribute equally to the costs of victuals and to cover their own expenses including pocket money. I would prefer to have the same crew for the entire cruise, but will consider taking on crew for a portion of the trip.

The deck log format presented here is a compendium of several different logs I have had an opportunity to inspect and use over the years.

The documents are intended for double sided, i.e., duplex, printing. They are landscape format and designed to be bound along the left edge. If bound with a spiral or cerlox binding, the log will lay flat on the chart table.

I've decided to offer personalisation of the log as a service. I will place your Vessel's Name on the first page of each log and in the headers of each pair of daily pages. The personalised logs will be e-Mailed to you as pdf files in return for a modest donation of $10 to my PayPal account.

For those of you that don't sail constantly or frequently enough to warrant dedicating a log book per month, I have prepared an undated version of the deck log with sufficient space on each page to write a date. It can be found here. Thanks to Jim aboard SV Short Circuit for the suggestion to include it.

During the sailing seasons of 1996 and 1997, William served as crew aboard Mike Bolton's yacht, Revel, sailing out of Oban, Scotland. Narrative logs of the 1996 cruise to Ireland and the 1997 cruise to the Outer Hebrides are available for download.

During the summer of 2009, Saorsa II completed a three week cruise around Lake Ontario. This was a successful dress rehearsal cruise in anticipation of the 2010 trip around the Down East Circle Route.
