Cruising under Sail - 2012 In the spring of 2012, Saorsa II will again embark upon an extended cruise.
After launching in early May, She will leave Her home berth on Lake Ontario and head for New York City where She will pick up from where She left off in the autumn of 2010. From there She will range north to explore New England, Maine, and Nova Scotia before heading south to Norfolk, Virginia and Chesapeake Bay.
The autumn of 2012 will be spent cruising the waters of Chesapeake Bay sampling all the delights of that fascinating body of water. As winter approaches, She will continue south exploring the Intra-Coastal Waterway and visiting the lovely towns and cities along the way. After arriving in the Florida Keys, She will rest before heading for the Bahamas where She will ring in 2013. After that, well, we'll see which way the wind is blowing.
As the cruise progresses, William's cruising journal will be e-Mailed to close friends and posted here for others to read. Photos from the cruise will also be made available here.

Cruising under Sail - 2010 Cruise "Down East" During the 2010 sailing season, Saorsa II went on an extended cruise following the Down East Circle Route. This trip of approximately 3,000 nautical miles followed the St. Lawrence River, went through the Canadian Maritimes, south along the coast of New England to New York, and then back to Lake Ontario. Saorsa II departed Whitby Marina on May 15 to start the cruise. Saorsa II returned to Lake Ontario via the Hudson River and Erie Canal and arrived at Her winter storage location on October 14. Cruising Narratives During the sailing seasons of 1996 and 1997, William served as crew aboard Mike Bolton's yacht, Revel, sailing out of Oban Scotland. Narrative logs of the 1996 cruise to Ireland and the 1997 cruise to the Outer Hebrides are available for download.
During the summer of 2009, Saorsa II completed a three week cruise around Lake Ontario. this was a successful dress rehearsal cruise in anticipation of the 2010 trip around the Down East Circle Route.
